Merdeka!!

I remember when I was young.. the most anticipating things to do during celebration of independence day was to wake up early and sit in front of the TV watching Live parade from RTM 1... I wonder why I like it so much... anyway this year is totally different... instead of waking up.. I actually sleep until past noon... feel so energise after the long hour of sleep... It is not easy to have sufficient rest during weekdays...

Well.. in order to show our patriotism.. we actually bought both Jalur Gemilang and Terengganu state flags ever since the 1st week we come to KT... We keep it in the drawer until the very last week before Merdeka day (due to unlimited procrastination)... unfortunately the Jalur Gemilang only last for 2 days at our gate and got "borrowed" away... most probably the Mat Rempits... LOL.. Lucky we already take pictures with our national flag... we don't really blame them for their "act of patriotism" because they must be too poor to buy Malaysia flag (RM5)... Hahaha...

Jalur Gemilang and Turtle land's flag

Yesterday evening we had a very spontaneous visit to the beach to celebrate Jessica's birthday and off course Hari Merdeka!! It was nice and crazy as we actually sing "Negaraku", our own state and even school songs at the beach... we end the evening by shouting Merdeka for 5 times (initially we want to do it 7 times but really paiseh la) hahaha.. Totally Legendary evening!!

everyone is trying to keep the wind away from the candles...LOL

great friends and nice beach

What happen??!!! 祸不单行....

Everything was fine here at KT until 1 day... 1 very fine day where I was still sleeping comfortably in the cooling morning.. well.. to be more specific is already pass 12 noon and yes I was still asleep (to mom: it's weekend!!)... suddenly there's a loud BANG in my room and nearly caused me a heart attack... I wonder where did the sound came from until I notice the fan blades of my stand fan is broken into pieces... Arghhh.. nothing is worst than having your stand fan spoil at such a hot weather... Thanks to ji yin for lending me his stand fan... so touched!!感恩感恩!!

my stand fan!! T.T

still... there's something even worst than that happen 2 days later when I was heading to china town for lunch.. the strap of my wrist watch got loosen and my watch dropped on the floor!! since this was not the 1st time things like this happen so I was quite chill and just pick it up... This is what i found after i picking up the watch..

my wrist watch!! T.T

seems like my luck is getting low... really 祸不单行... haih... maybe it's time to visit the temple...保佑保佑!

Introducing Mydin~

Before I start introducing Mydin.. I would like to congratulate TM net for their efficiency in setting up internet service at my place... (took them 7 weeks to do that... not bad la)... LOL... now I found myself reasons to procrastinate my study and assignment (other than Drangon Ball).. YEAH!!

Mydin Mall~ the biggest shopping mall available at the town of KT (so proud!! XD) which have 30% the size of Mid Valley (or smaller @.@)… is my favourite place to go during weekends to get my daily stuff and things over there are cheap.. It is also the only few places that will have traffic jam at KT (it’s rare to have traffic jam here)… The 1st runner up goes to Giant and 2nd runner up goes to The Store!! Don’t have to think about 4th and 5th place.. There are only 3 shopping “mall” at this turtle town…

perfect night view of Mydin with 2 傻佬~

Since there’s only limited time for all those cooking work, the only time we use the stove were for the instant noodles… This also led to my bad habit of taking in excess junk food… Instant noodle, Jack & Jill, biscuits, ice-cream, packet drinks were stuff that I take whenever I feel hungry and also the only stuff that I will buy from Mydin (please tell me if u have any other good junk food suggestion) LOL…

"healthy" food from Mydin~

Puasa month had begun and is totally different to what it was at KL… Fast food such as KFC or McD will be closed until 3pm I think (maybe 4)… Lucky there’s china town at this place… so we can at least get our lunch there... if not I’m sure I will lose more weight and I know there’s not much left in me… hahaha… anyway there's bazar ramadhan nearby...would really like to try most of the kuih-muih there... unfortunately the amount of flies is terrifying.. Lucky i didn't "Lao Sai" after eating that kuih melaka (if I'm not wrong.. is a green colour rounded kuih)... Murtabak is still my favourite!!

Prelude of my new life…

Ahh!! 6am in the morning... it’s very depressing when I have to wake up at this hour accompany by the beautiful “alarm clock” from the mosque nearby… it is a great challenge for me to resist the comfy of my bed at such hour!! Sometimes I just feel like lying there the whole day~

Breakfast is always fast and simple… biscuits with soy milk can keep me “alive” until lunch where most of us medical student have to stand the whole morning clerking patients or observing surgery in the Operation Theater… The best part of KT general hospital a.k.a. hospital SNZ is that the location is just directly next to the beach!! Unfortunately, until now I still haven’t set foot on the beach before or after my hospital session due to the busy timetable…

Study in the hospital is totally different with classroom… You get to see real patient and cases… medical knowledge is no longer the sole element we need to master… communication and social skills play a very important role too… especially when 97% of our patient is Malay… (Malay language in KT has a stronger slang compare to KL)… but they are way more friendly compare to KL’s patients…

Walking around the hospital with my coat on is really funny… “I may look like a doctor... sounds like a doctor… write like a doctor… but don’t have the brain of a doctor”… the reason I say it’s funny because most of the patient or family members will give me a weird look when they see me.. If I have to ability to listen to other’s mind.. They must be saying “Hey.. is the little boy a doctor?? Macam budak aje”… LOL… even the Sister Nurse also say that to me!! Still.. Most of the time patients and their family members address me by calling me Dr… feel so weird (although got a little bit happy lah… hahaha)

During the 3rd day of my surgical posting… The patient I clerked has the look almost like my grandfather… I will never forget him and really appreciate it when he allowed me to perform Per-Rectal examination on him (not to forget Dr Min Oo too)… he is a very nice guy… hopefully he will be alright… he was discharged when I went back to the hospital on the next day… My next target is to perform or at least observe proctoscopy and to see sunrise during my coming night call duty…

Meaningful quote from Sir William Osler… “To study the phenomena of disease without books is to sail an uncharted sea, while to study books without patients is not going to sea at all”…. It’s time to go back to my books…arghhh!!!
