Howling Monsoon!!

At last monsoon season is officially here... been days our lovely SUN is no where to be seen... clouds and more clouds is everywhere... cumulonimbus is all over the place with howling winds chilling our days... feel like Genting highland here... lazy weekend and wonderful weather is just too perfect to sleep... too bad got class tomorrow... I demand holiday!!! (non stop formation of nasal mucus after bath!!)

Went to Pantai Batu Buruk after dinner with my "family" member... This time really WOWed me!! the wind is so strong I think I almost being blown away the moment I step down from the car and the waves is soooo HUUGGEEEEE!!! we tried very hard to take pictures of the waves but still can't really capture the amazing view... we need a dslr!!! those that have it faster go take picture!!

We went to Mydin and bought ourselves some I heart Terengganu T-shirts... although they are not the original I heart T-shirts... still they are good enough to satisfy us... we're so excited until we took a family photo together!! LOL...

our family photo!! thanks to ji yin for editing it into such a beautiful 1...

I guess it's time to sleep... the weather is too tempting... another 5 days will be back at KL!! time pass real fast... maybe because we are so occupied by internal medicine... hope I can end this busy posting soon...

Perhentian Island Challenge!!

What a week! Suddenly there's student seminar this week and hell lot of stuff to study for internal medicine... Seriously I missed Surgery!! things are easier back there... Now I don't even have enough time for proper sleep... (I must admit I need hell lot of time for sleep~) Anyway... at least my seminar presentation is over today (thank you guys for not postponing my part till tmr)... At last I get to update on my past weekend challenge!!

I always wanted to go Redang and Perhentian ever since I fall in love with islands and marine life... Others always tell me that this 2 places is a MUST go destination for a island lover... At least now I get to visit 1... All thanks to Perhentian Island Challenge 2010 where participants only have to pay RM150 for 3 days 2 nights stay... Damn cheap!! Everything from boat ride, food, accommodation and even goodies bag is included... Only have to spend few extra bucks for souvenir...

We stay in modern tents at Teluk KK where they called it the racer village... LOL.. sounds so professional... It was a beautiful beach and participants get to enjoy the beach and relax on the very first day... the best part is the sunset... been awhile since the very last time I appreciate sunset next to the beach... All we can see is sunrise (well.. that also have to depend if we can wake up early)...

The "racer village" at Teluk KK

Sunset~

At last the long awaited race is finally here... there's 2 category in the challenge... which is the elite group and novice group... (of course all of us joined novice) For elite group they have to run for more than 20km and swim across the sea from small perhentian island to big perhentian island... The swimming part disqualified almost half of the elite participants where they can't stand the waves and seriously the distance between the 2 island is quite far!! Last year champion from Ghana even get himself disqualified at that part... (They can run like cheetah but also swim like cheetah.. haha!!)

let the race begin!!

Well... I'm not at any good position to laugh at others lah... my left leg cramp during the race while I just completed 5km i guess (novice have to run a total of 13km)... the cramp is so severe until I can't even stand properly... not long after that my right leg join the club!! so I have to finish "walking" the remaining 8km with injured legs... Countless up and down hill and difficult terrain make it easy to get our muscles cramp... Besides, the heat really make us suffer!! the race started at 11am and the sky is very clear on that day (was praying very hard for clouds that day.. hahaha)... The worst part is those beach tracks where there's totally no trees to shade us... and most of the beach is very long!!

beach run ahead!!

All 6 of us meet up at the windmill resting point and take pictures... the scenery over there is just awesome! The organizing team even plan the track for us to run down 570 steps of staircase and run up again... seriously my legs are freaking pain!! Lucky we keep on taking pictures and sing songs all the way which really raised our morale and make the rest of the race fun and interesting... At the end all 6 of us cross our hands together and run forward to the finish line... That moment is 1 to be remember for the rest of our life... so after 4 hours of running to walking till slacking... we reached the finish line... yay!!

windmill~

running together towards finishing line...

Next morning we clear up the camp site and head back to Terengganu mainland... Enjoyed the 20 minutes of speed boat ride and have mixed feelings on the way back... I promise myself to come back again next year... Well...I guess that's the summary for PIC 2010... it's time to get back to books and study! Ohhh~ internal med.. ohhh~ how I wish I can finish this posting soon...

Community medicine!!!

Phew!! what a week... community medicine is totally tiring... not because of the amount of stuff that we have to study (practically nothing much to read)... it's because of the amount of time we have to spend traveling around in car or school van!! everyday is just like going for holiday or vacation...

We visited Kemaman Port on the 1st day (to understand port health)... i think we spend almost 2 hours just to travel from UCSI campus to Kemaman... At 1st I was quite excited (I taught we get to go on ships and do some interesting visit)... Mana tau end up we go there just to see 2 traps!!! WTH... (which is ovitrap and rat trap) and we are not even near the ship!! come on larhhh... I can see those trap at A LOT of place leh... No need to go until Kemaman... waste petrol only... LOL...

Group photo at Port Kemaman... that's the nearest we can get to a ship!! LOL

ovitrap!! use to catch Aedes Agypti... I think it end up being a breeding spot!! so many mosquito there... =.=

Well... at least we got a very nice medical assistant there (Mr. Zulkifli) which is a very nice guy and he explain to us in quite a professional way... although as usual they can't really communicate in english LARH!! at least he know his stuff and able to put those information inside my brain... (hopefully those knowledge will stay in my brain until my exam!!)

Mr. Zulkifli showing us the rat trap... LOL!!

The best part of Kemaman visit is we get to go "kai kai" at Mesra Mall on our way back and believe it or not it's suggested by Dr. Eugenie (1 and half hour from KT town)... We get to "visit" the new cinema (and it's also the nearest cinema from KT)... We even crazy enough to take picture outside the cinema and feel very malu after that as there's a lot other people there looking at us!! HAHAHA!!

nearest cinema from KT... 1 n half hours away~

Second day we visited occupational rehab centre, Terengganu dumping site and Keropok Lekor factory... Unfortunately the school did not provide us with any transport and we have to drive there ourselves (lucky I'm not the driver)... Overall it's interesting and we get to makan anywhere we go... They really like to prepare food for us leh!! Nothing much to mention... Just that the keropok lekor factory is really unhygienic... Houseflies and wasps flying everywhere and they still manage to get business approval from Ministry of Health... Pro!!

great variety of fish for keropok lekor... if u look closely u may find there's high amount of flies and bees!!

processing the keropok...

hmmm... keropok lekor... got appetite? still... it's very nice to eat...

makan time!! FYI... food is very nice... especially the mee goreng!!

after the nice food~ introducing the dumping site of Terengganu... and 4 cute group mates... hahaha!!

A very friendly participant at occupational rehab centre...

Third day was awesome for me... This is the very 1st time I actually really communicate with a psychological problem patient... Totally different way of communication and require lots of patience and skills... The 1st patient we visited actually quite nice... although he is a bit shy but the moment when he smile the whole environment is just great!! (Besides, he told us he heard voices to ask him to go to the mosque!) Hmmm... Something actually come across my mind the very 1st moment I heard it... but I think it's not nice to post it here... Feel free to ask me what it is if any of u interested to know... hahahaha!

Group photo during patient house visit!! the patient can make real nice baju kurung!!

Another home visit patient!

Nothing much for 4th and 5th day... Just some simple visit to clinics and hospital... I think that's about it for this week... Gonna grab some rest for tmr's trip to Pulau Perhentian!! A place i always wanted to go since I'm still a little kid... Islands and beach is just awesome!! Must pray for good weather!!

4 idiots~

4 cows on our way back~

PS~ 3 weeks to holiday!! woohooo!! deepa deepa deepa~

good bye surgery..... till we meet again!!

At last... my turn to finish my end of posting examination... feel damn bad when u are the very last 1 to sit for examination and the rest of your friends already start their enjoying mood... have to study in my own room when the rest of my housemates is playing is the worst... LOL... well at least other posting is having their exam next week... hahaha.... good luck guyss!!

Though today had a very difficult old female patient but at least everything goes well... haih... how i wish i got another patient instead of her... what to do... we are not allow to choose our patient in the future... i guess prof. Khin is doing what she think is best for us... did learn a lot from her although she keep stopping me from explaining my findings.... i guess everyone in surgical posting know her character.. most of u know what i mean... hahaha!!! (hope she won't see this)

Unfortunately there's still student seminar presentation next week... can't fully enjoy my weekends... damn i hate preparing slides!! well... at least i played and enjoyed A LOT this evening... very tired but still refuse to sleep (must enjoy every moment of post-examination period)... LOL... why there's BST tommorow?? exam already over leh... how i wish Dr. Das cancel it... XD

well i guess i should call it a day and off to bed now... don't feel like walking around the ward with panda's eye!! * count down to next holiday- 4 weeks!! * yay!!
