Welcome to the world!!

When most of the people busy celebrating Valentine's day... I plan to make my very own "single appreciation day" a memorable one... when other people helping their wallet to reduce weight I'm making mine obese... manage to cook myself instant noodle before rushing for the night's BST with Dr. Nasir... After that.. all the fun begin~ It's labour room time...

The plan of the night... Not going to go back until i delivered a baby!! it's not a busy night after all... there's still plenty of empty bed for new mothers to deliver... manage to deliver 3 placenta from 3 new mothers... It was my very 1st time conducting placenta delivery... The main thing you have to do is control cord traction (CCT) or also known as "control control tarik" by those funny nurses in the labour room... when I 1st grab and twisting it out... It feels like u are holding on a big bag of warm jelly... make sure nothing is left behind the mother's womb by digging every single clot out after the placenta is delivered... Behind every healthy baby, there's a healthy placenta!! Make sure the cord have 2 arteries and 1 vein... check the length of the cord, the maternal and fetal surface, the cotyledons and finally place them in a plastic bag and return it to the mother... Malays will bury the placenta with respect as appreciation to the special organ for supporting the life of their baby... something new I learned yesterday night...

Placenta!!

Finally... when time reaches 3am... my long awaited mission finally arrived... The baby is coming out!! This time the nurses asked me to conduct the delivery as they already get used to my "existence" in the labour room... someone that's not a space occupying lesion (SOL)... really fun when they acknowledge you as part of their team... it's amazing when u are the 1st person to touch the newborn when they come to this world... every single part of the baby is touch by me 1st including his bola-bola~ hahaha... after cutting off the cord, place the newborn at the mother's chest and ask her to identify the gender of her baby... very important mother's touch...

My very first baby~
the baby appeared to be blue... was incubated for an hour..

examination of the baby by a on-call pediatrician

Right: Another picture of my first delivered baby... handsome boy with big eyes and eyebrows..
Left: pretty girl join him after an hour... delivered her placenta...

be careful when you decided to let the mother to hold on to your hand when they are pushing... they will have unbelievable strength that will causes numbness to your hand... at 1 point i taught she was about to crush my bone!! (no la just joking)...

immediately after I delivered the baby, that same bed was occupied by a women with intrauterine dead fetus which is already at 32 weeks of gestation... half an hour ago the same bed had just happily welcome a newborn to the word... and now.. it's sad to see the disappointment in the parents as they've been trying very hard to get themselves a children... I guess that's the cruelty of the reality...

Well... it's a amazing night after all... so many hand-on experience is acquired... easier than reading books... when time reaches 7 in the morning I decided to call it a day... I've been awake for 38 hours and standing for 11 hours... I guess that's the actual life of a night duty... My gown is stained with bloods and I totally smelled like a placenta... Head to the beach for the sunrise before going back home for a nice bath and my comfy bed.. Thank God it's holiday today... To all the new Valentine babies... Welcome to this world~ U all made my day!!

the beginning of a new day... for me it is time to sleep!!
