Perhentian Island Challenge 2011~

Finally there's something for me to update my blog.. past few months is awesomely busy... here comes PIC 2011.. an annual event for some of us to participate.. =)

This year we have lots of new members in our team (Khek, Chong, J ying and wei wei)... As usual our dear senior Dr. Ong Jing Wei is joining this event.. he is a big fan of marathon... (purposely fly all the way from Tawau to KL, drove few hours during the night to KT and straight away join us to Perhentian) fuhhh... summore belanja us breakfast.. XD

We depart from KT around 9am after our breakfast at Chinatown.. drove 2 hours to Kuala Besut Jeti... A familiar place for us that participated in the event last year.. It was a "syiok sendiri" singing road trip for our driver Sam a.k.a 大便王~ you will be amazed that he could actually sing all the song he prepared in his thumb drive and non stop for 2 hours.. even though he was pretty ss, I must not deny that he has a really good voice...

We manage to hop in a boat at 12.30pm.. thanks to the volunteer that prepared it for us.. If not we will have to wait until 2.30pm for the next boat and we will sure miss all the fun...

After grabbing lunch at our campsite located in Pulau Besar Perhentian.. we decided to go for snorkeling trip which cost only RM30.. (4 snorkeling point + snorkeling set included) it was a pretty cheap price for us.. we get to see lots of fish, feed them we bread (OJW used his mouth and Sam used his toes) chase after a sea turtle and not to forget play with sea cucumber!

amazing trip for all of us... we also get to see Nemos (clown fish) and sea cucumber with one arm length while snorkeling at the beach near our camp area with Chee Hang.. I was touched by both papa and mama Nemo that tried to protect their children from those big fish which is 4-5 times bigger than them... how i wish i can capture the moments for everyone to appreciate it..

Our race (novice) began around 10.30am the next morning... This year OJW is the only one that join (Elite) category that require runners to swim across the sea between the 2 island of Perhentian because our friend WJY FFKed him.. hahhaha... Bad news is.. this year race is longer than last year..

The race was fun especially if u walk with Sam n Khek... 1 keep singing all the way (off course he only manage to sing for 2 hours.. after that phone no battery cant sing dy) and another 1 keep imagining herself shopping in Mid Valley or Pavillion.. LOL... Can't stop laughing when Sam trying to show his "fashion" moves and end up step into a hole covered with leaves... hahaha...

4 hours later.. we finally made it to the checkpoint at 8km.. I was disgusted by the attitude of one of the volunteer there that talk to us with a sarcastic tone that try to persuade us to give up... well there's still another 2 hours before the race end and the way he talk to us as if we couldn't make it in time.. wei wei and khek decided to stop their journey there while Sam n I continue our race.. I was impressed by the mental and physical determination of Khek that manage to walk the journey without complaint... she totally earned my respect...

It was not an easy task to complete the last 6km run because both of us is very hungry and i start experiencing hypoglycemic after another 2km run... i decided to give up but was encourage by 2 very supportive volunteer at a water station... we even sleep for 10 mins halfway during the race... there's a moment i reached my mental limit to continue and i decided to call up someone that is most important to me... She manage to encourage me and give me strength to continue the race... Finally we manage to complete our race before 5pm.. worst thing is.. there's no lunch left at the finishing point.. only some dessert to fill my empty stomach... For the record.. our last meal is at 7.30am...

Overall it was a great trip to Perhentian... gonna participate in next year's race again... hopefully i am fit enough to join elite.. wanna try swimming across the sea between the 2 island.. I guess everyone have a great experience too... thanks to ah bi for all the wonderful pictures taken during the trip! hope we can have another great memory together during next year's race.. For now.. is time to study for year 4 exams!

end of year 3 holiday~

It's already 5 weeks after my holiday and finally i get to find myself some time to update my blog.. life is busy as a yr 4 student.. fuhh yr 4 liao eh.. *sounds pro abit*

anyway not going to bullshit much this time... just sharing some pictures on what happen during my 2 weeks end of year 3 break... 1st is the yummy Seremban siew pao and crab trip, Chiling waterfall with the bros, 1 day volunteer in KL marathon and finally the amazing Penang trip~ too bad the Redang trip was cancelled..

1st thing we do in Seremban! play games! XD

Visited Seremban's Jusco for the 1st time.. not bad la.. everything u need u can find it there.. Unlike KT... LOL... spend some time chit chat and loitering around there like high school kids.. =)

went to one of the park in seremban after the loitering session... it was pretty windy and i'm sure it's a nice place for a weekend jog.. too bad i dint take any picture of it...

after that we went for dinner at one of the restaurant.. ordered pepper crab.. it was delicious! 4.5 star level~ XD

A spontaneous trip to chiling waterfall on day 3 of my holiday... went with bunch of bros! unfortunately.. it's closed during Monday till Thursday... =(

Ques: why is Lai so happy when it's closed when we were there?

Ans: Because as a magician, he found us a way to get inside! XD

hahaha... at the end the solution is just to climb inside... the old scout ways..

we spend some time swimming at this area and had our short lunch.. what surprise us is that there's 2 Caucasian which is from Germany and a tour guide is chatting here too! i bet they come in the same way as us.. LOL! then we saw 2 monkey copulate while we were having our lunch... the whole process does not last more than 10 secs! hahahaha... awesome entertainment for us...

after the short lunch we decided to hike up to 2nd and 3rd waterfall.. it's a harder track and should be careful if any of u wanna go there...

we were caught by the forest guard when we're on our way out.. lucky what we have to do is just to pay the entrance fees which is RM 1 per person... lucky~

Finally we're done with our 1 day trip.. so many awesome fun and jokes during the trip! enjoy it very much with the guys... and sanfu sai wai loo becoming our driver all the way from seremban... =)

well.. i guess i will leave the KL marathon and penang trip a side 1st... need some rest dy...

Found this 2 picture on facebook where 6 of us brother, sister and cousins were together... i don't even remember when was the time i took the picture when i was young... (should be 5 years old) we've changed a lot but we definitely still have some recognisable features in us...

Those were the days... hanging around together at ah ma's house during major family gathering... i bet all 4 boys will be very excited during those precious gathering... we played hide and seek, pee in the same bottle and put pity worms and insects inside making it as our very own "七里香"... i can still remember well how we joke about it...

not to forget those moment we played masak-msask and climb under the "longkang"... i bet my mum will scold me like mad if she know we did all those stupid stuff... hahaha... XD it was some very good childhood memory...

now that we had grown up... we definitely will no longer do those stupid stuff anymore but luckily we're still close and fun... great to have bunch of cousins like this... u guys are awesome!

last day as a year 3

I still can't believe we had been here for almost a year and year 3 examination is finally over... hoorrayy!! XD *pray hard everyone can pass* i screwed up MCQ... zzzz...

Notice something funny during a nice warm bath... my 750ml dettol finally finish till the last drop... I can't believe it had served me for a year... *swear to God I bath everyday kay!* (2-3 times a day lorhh) it's time for pH 5.5 (new brand) to do the job for the coming year! =P

Gonna be a year 4 in another 20 days time... now there will be no more excuse for us to say "don't know" that often dy... as we used to say "it's okay, we're year 3 only, there's still time for us to learn" if don't know still can go back find out.... i think in year 4 if we say dunno then we will get all the firing from the lecturers dy... must be serious liao!! XD

Okay lah... at least we still have 20 days of end of year holiday... gonna visit 3 places in this short period of time... hope it will be a enjoyable one b4 i step into the hell of year 4... I've been waiting for it since study break... finally the time has arrived!! going back KL tmr and head straight to srbn!! woohhooo~ holiday here i come!!

Final countdown!!

In another 2 weeks time... with the arrival of end of year examination... my life as a year 3 medical student will finally come to an end... T.T

Peadiatric is definitely one of the most tiring posting for me... BST for 8 weeks!! kinda boring lah... i prefer some clinic or OT session... anyway... it was fun playing with kids... although sometimes u will get kinda depressed when the kid cry immediately the moment they see u... as if u are some horrible monster... (psychological trauma when u are repeatedly cannulated by doctors)... No matter what u do... they will just cry n cry n cry... =.=

Clerked a trisomy 21 patient few days ago... The 16 years old boy taught me something... something my dad has been trying to teach me for the past 22 years - "why choose sad if u can choose to be happy"... I saw it on the patient... The patient never blame anyone for his condition... not the God, parents, siblings or friends... not even a single person... his life goes on and he live happily with it... the way he smile and interact definitely touches my heart... At first I feel kinda sad for him but wait... he is the happiest person i ever seen in my life... I should be happy for him... That's why our lecturers always say... the patient can be your best teacher... not always for the medical knowledge, but the way of life....

Trying my best to be happy most of the time... but with exams around the corner... i better get stressed up so that I will sit quietly in front of my desk and study... hope everyone have a great and happy day~

Belly Good (oppss.. non halal ! )

Aloha~ I can't believe that I've been updating this blog for a year... seriously... reading back to my 1st post... my writing is still as bad... maybe I need a little more practice...

Anyway... just feel like introducing a restaurant to u guys... especially those studying in KT... i know i know... it's pretty hard to get a good meal of pork in this small town... I mean... the town with small population of Chinese.. hehehe.. even the 2 bak kut teh shop available here doesn't fit the category of delicious... i will just put it as... edible... XD

Manage to sneak back KL for 3 days during last weekend... thanks to Labour day that fall on Sunday... which means... extra long weekend for us to take a breath..

As usual... my dad will always do his best bringing me out to taste the good food in town... pork noodle, bak kut teh, dim sum and of course a restaurant that only serve PORK!! honestly... the 1st 3 food that i mentioned just now is almost like a routine... he will always bring me to the same place whenever i go back KL but trust me... they are good!!

Okay... it's time to introduce u guys this shop... u will recognize this shop once you see it for the first sight... there's two little boar head on the sign board of the shop and they are really cute... i wonder how they get pass the government to put up the sign... anyway... that's not important... the food is!!

Lets start with the grilled pork belly... the 3 layered pork belly was marinated with the in-house chef's so called irresistible sauce... it was the best of all... many people don't really enjoy the fatty layer of the 3 layer pork belly... including myself... however... i must say the chef did a very good job on this 1...

2nd goes to the different variety of sausages... off course.. they were all made of pork and each have their very own way to tantalise your taste bud... it was an easy meal for those lazy people who don't like to trouble themselves with the continuous usage of the knife... a good recommendation for girls...

If you wanna try out all of them... I will suggest you to go for the Trio platter... it's more worth it compare to the mixed platter... because at the same price of RM29.90, u get to enjoy an extra pork chorizo sausage with grilled pork belly and pork rib... good suggestion for 1 time go-er...

Since we went there way past lunch time... there's practically no other customer around... so my dad bragged that he actually reserved the whole restaurant for us... cheeeh waaaah... we were given a complimentary set of pumpkin soup from the owner and the taste was awesome... the creamy sensation with pumpkin flavoring inside your mouth makes u feel like you're swimming naked in the pool of pumpkin soup... okay I know that's a little bit exaggerated... hahaha...

anyway... it was a good lunch and thank you JIE for paying the bill!!! you're the best!! ohhh btw... this shop is located near Sunway Pyramid... directly opposite row of shop from YUEN's steamboat restaurant (which is famous for their 烧鸡翅)... just search for the 2 pig head sign and u will never miss it... =)

PS - go try it when u are feeling rich~ hope u all get what i mean... XD
